Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

The Montgomery Education Foundation (MEF) would like to thank everyone for their support so far during the 2010/2011 school year.  A big thank you to everyone who has donated money this year to the MEF, either through eScrip, through our “Dollar a Day” fund drive, through our Adopt-A-Project campaign, by purchasing your Amazon purchases via the link on the MHS or MEF websites, or by contributing directly to our general fund or our Endowment fund. Every bit helps!

How You Can Help the MEF:

    • Attend MEF meetings.  Come join us the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Student Services Center to find out more about our organization.  Remaining meeting dates for 2010 are:  Mondays, October 4, November 1, and December 6.
    • Participate in or assist with our events held throughout the year.
    • Register your Safeway Club Card at www.eScrip.com and select the Montgomery Education Foundation as the beneficiary (call 1-877-723-3929 if you have forgotten your club car number).  It is free and easy.  Oliver’s has now joined eScrip!  A percentage of each purchase will be donated to the MEF.
    • Make purchases at Amazon.com via the MHS website www.montgomeryhighschool.com, or the MEF website www.montgomeryhigheducationfoundation.org   and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the MEF.
    • Donate to our Dollar-A-Day campaign in which we request families to donate $180 which amounts to $1/day for every day your students are in class, or to our Adopt-A-Project campaign in which we have teachers make specific requests for items or donations to cover those items, including lab supplies for science class, TI-84 Calculators for the Math Club, gently used teen novels, paperback books, dance and exercize videos, ink cartridges, tissue, and much more.
    • Dine out at Legends at Bennett Valley Golf Course.  We will receive 10% of your total check whenever your dine at Legends and 20% of your total check on “Montgomery High Day”, which is on the first Friday of the month.  Just tell your server that you are there to support Montgomery High School.
    • Have your student take their online drivers education course at www.highschooldriversed.com and use the discount code: hsde105 which will save your student $15 off of the normal $69.95 fee, and will contribute $20 to the MEF. This drivers education class provides students with the knowledge needed to earn a learners permit and drivers license, and offers students the opportunity to take online practice tests.

The MEF is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

If you have any questions, you may contact Priscilla Vivio, MEF President, at pvivio@neteze.com or mef@montgomeryhigheducationfoundation.org.

Host an Exchange Student

Dan & Deanna Corbin, Coordinators for EF Foundation for Foreign Study and current Montgomery parents, would like to thank Montgomery High School and its staff for making it enjoyable for everyone as this is our second year of having an Exchange student at Monty. We are currently looking for volunteer host families to open their hearts and homes to host high school students from 25 different countries for the 2011-2012 school year. By hosting and international exchange student, you can truly change the world; one person, one family, one relationship at a time.  You’ll bring the world into your home and gain a new understanding of a different county and culture. And you’ll make the American dream a reality for a teenager from across the globe and gain a son/daughter. If you would like more information on what it means to be a host family, please contact us at (707) 478-4999 or email us dlc4me@sbcglobal.net Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, EF Foundation for Foreign Study is the leader in high school exchange.  Committed to promoting international understanding and global awareness for over 30 years, EF Foundation brings more students to the United States each year than any other high school exchange program and is the leader if it’s kind. Since 1979, the organization has matched over 100,000 talented, enthusiastic students from around the world with caring host families across the United States.  EF Foundation is designated by the United States Department of State as an Exchange Program Sponsor.  You can also visit www.effoundation.org or call 1-800-44-SHARE. (This program is supported, but not sponsored by Santa Rosa City Schools)
